About

The Balance Workshop is a clinic and home visiting service that provides Neurological Physiotherapy and Vestibular Rehabilitation in the Coromandel.

The clinic was started after Fleur moved with her family to live in Hahei.  Fleur is passionate about providing a high-quality rehabilitation service to this mainly rural area and continuing to build on her extensive experience in this community.

Experience

After Graduating at Auckland University of Technology (AUT) in 2004, she has worked mainly in Auckland and London (United Kingdom).  Fleur has extensive experience working in Neurological private practice working with clients to manage a wide variety of neurological and vestibular conditions.

Fleur started her career at Auckland City Hospital and completed a number of rotations before progressing to senior level and finding her passion in Neurology and Neurosurgery. She then moved to the UK and worked within teams specialising in long term Neurodisability, including the Camden Primary Care Trust and Putney Royal Hospital for Neurodisability.

On her return to New Zealand, Fleur worked for 8 years with Julie Rope at Rope Neuro Rehabilitation in Auckland. She thrived on the dynamic mix of community and outpatient therapy and developed the Neurological and Vestibular Outpatient Rehabilitation Clinic at Rope. She loved having the ability to work with patients both privately and through the public system, completing ACC contracts.

The Balance Workshop was established in 2018 and is essentially based on this model. Prior to the development of this clinic, the closest vestibular and neurological rehabilitation clinics were either Auckland, Hamilton or Tauranga, meaning 5 hours travel return to reach these services. It is essential that people have access to these services as locally as possible.
